In the cool, cool, cool of the morning, tell them I'll be there!!

Well it is a lot cooler today. As I am tired we didn't have a walk and I certainly feel better for it. Harki has had an excellent play with the giant tennis ball in a plastic bag again. Poor little Peri was sick last night, but on the slate not on the carpet. She felt much better afterwards. The Labradors are having their afternoon nap now. It is quite windy and several times the back door has shut them in or out and it has been very traumatic. Tomorrow we will have a long walk - well 20-25 minutes - and maybe a play under the hose.

Time for a cool change.

Short of hosing them, there is little I can do for the poor hot Labradors. We are hiding out inside, and they are sleeping on the cold slate floor and the polished boards. They are not too hot to eat though. During the night, they were too hot to sleep in the bedroom. We are hoping for a cool change.

Feelin' hot, hot, hot!!!

Harki was very unhappy when she got home as the creek is drying up and is really just a big mud puddle and she got her fur all dirty. She had to spend quite a lot of time making herself clean. Peri ran and ran but did come when she was called which was a little bit if a miracle. It is very warm and humid and we long for rain. It is even too hot to play according to the Labradors. Now we are all having a nap and iceblocks too!!!

Labradors, Labradors, go wherever a fishie can!! Can they swim? Listen bud, they've got lots of fishie blood!!

See, today I am much smarter, I have learned from my mistakes, I am writing this in Word first and copying and pasting so it won’t get lost again. Early this morning while it was still cool we went outside and emptied the paddle pool, which is a green double shell plastic one, and filled it up with the hose. There was much leaping about and snapping at the stream of water. I lost the secateurs for a while, but because I looked for them in shoes- they thought it was going for a walk time then : they went beserkers-bonkers, running up and down the stairs non-atop. They were tired before we even left to go for a walk!! The other people were on a walk with their dogs, so the Labradors had to stay on their leads in the bush. Otherwise they had a lovely time!!! When we came home we all needed a rest. As it has been warm they have been napping, outside in the brilliant sunshine mostly, then they come in for a big drink and a pat. Peri comes in all wet up to the tide mark of the pool and her head is all wet form being submerged!!! I can hear the Dingledangle toy outside , its bell ringing hopefully, as Harki cries pitifully, needing to play!!!

Bah Humbug

Bah humbug, I did a whole lot of writing and there was an error and it didn't make it to the blog. Basically, we have been for a walk, had a tug of war game with a toy, eaten chicken wing tips and sun bathed all day.

Gonna jump down, turn around, steal a reel of cotton!!!

I came here earlier this morning but there was some huge error happening and I couldn't post any of the Labradors' news. Yesterday I took them for a walk, we saw a Samoyed and they had a big run and a big play. Peri had a huge lump of hair that had not come out when it should have, so I brushed her. She was not so happy about that, but when it was over she danced about. Peri has been in and out of the paddle pool as the weather has been quite warm.
This morning there was no walk but they have had a frantic play and a run outside and I bought them some special 'clean your teeth' dog biscuits. Harki liked them so much she rested her head on my lap, looked up at me and dribbled a lot, in general anticipation. Peri has been sunbaking and keeps coming inside in an absolute fever and having to have giant drinks. Harki has had her Dingledangle toy in a bag. I tied it up and it kept her amused for a few minutes. Tomorrow is walk day.
Yesterday when I came home Peri had stolen the bag of cotton reels, with cotton on them!! and the bag was by the gate and the cottons were all by the back door. It was my own fault for not picking them up. Nevertheless, I shut the Labradors in the Forbidden Zone while I picked the cottons up and they cried piteously. I could not believe how upset they were to be locked out for 2 minutes. The reunion on opening the gate was as if I had been in the desert for 40 years a la Moses!!!!

These boots are not made for walking

I have been quite tired, and in fact we are not going for a walk today, even though it is a designated walking day. We have had a very big play for an hour with the big tennis ball in a bag however, and Harki was so puffed out she had to have a sleep. Yesterday the labradors had a rawhide bone as a recompense as I came home smelling of ACMA's Mum and Dad's dog, Mac. They do not like any form of betrayal!!! When I go out to in 1/2 an hour they will have a bone and we will have fun walk tomorrow!!!
When I came home yesterday I found one shoe infront of the TV and realised :
1. I hadn't picked my shoes up and put them away, and
2. Peri had taken one shoe.
I found it in the garage UNCHEWED. She knew she had been semi-bad!! There was a big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
but no smacks or other growls and then they all had a big pat.

Everything's scone to the dogs!!!!

The Labradors were in heaven today as they had a lovely scone each for morning tea!! It was a white chocolate and cranberry scone with raspberry jam and cream. I know it is wrong but it was only a small half scone. Harki was so excited she was asking with her front paws non-stop, sitting and was too hyper to do 'Drop". Peri came out from behind her little corner of the table - I know it is round but she sits in a corner of the building. She stood on the barrier and watched the tray of scones. Harki is playing with a tennis ball in a plastic bag. She lies on her back, holds the bag between her front paws and then dangles the ball down and bites it. She is very inventive. Peri steals the ball quite a bit but has a short attention span. They are having a biscuit as I am off out but they can have a bone too. This morning they were so happy that I had a Labrador on each side of me, trapping me in bed!! so then I could pat them both. Harki is very jealous if she thinks she is missing out. Peri's little paw seems fine.

Paw Paw Pitiful Me!!

The Labradors had a very exciting walk today to the dam where there was much swimming about!! Poor little Peri hurt her paw, her left front paw, running after a stick. She cried and licked it and held it up, but there was no blood and I couldn't feel anything in it. They have both been trying to lie on the Bunny sleeping bag, it is even more popular now it had eyes and ears. Harki has been playing with a vengeance with TeddyBuny and with DingleDangle toy. They are both bright and happy in the morning. Harki likes to be on the couch and lies there and snore up a storm. Peri still likes to be under something on the bed so I put a little blanket over her and she wags her little tail furiously!!!

God is NOT on our side on the fence

We awoke to a warm day and a warm welcome. The Labradors are very happy. It must be Spring. They had breakfast and then a nap!!! Harki played with her DingleDangle toy, a barbell with a bell in it. She was so excited every time I went to throw it she has paroxysms of joy and then wouldn't go up the stairs to get it!!!
Peri really wanted the chicken wings we had for lunch and she sat between the printer and the chair near the computer and was very well behaved and cute and had a lot of chicken skin!!! Now we are all going to have a nap - Oh the Jehovah's people came and were put out they couldn't get in the gate - damned cheek of them. The Labradors did a lot of jumping and had a treat!!!

The scent but no woman

Yesterday we stayed home all day, we didn't even go out the back gate to get the paper till 5 pm. This morning the Labradors were uberexcited and could barely contain themselves. We had a lovely walk and there was much dipping in the creek pool and Harki ended up looking like the evil Gremlin - Spike? - with a tufty dark head. They have had Optimum Beef for breakfast and it appears to be the dog equivalent of Froot Loops. They think they are having lollies for a meal!!! Now they are all wet and they are having a sleep. Last night they had a chicken frame when we went to Bridget Jones : The edge of reason. I was fixing ACMA's bag for her and they went beserkers-bonkers every time it came out. They were very confused. It is quite warm despite the rain and they are both hot!!!!! ( I would also like to point out that the spell check questioned 'tufty' but let 'beserkers-bonkers' straight through to the keeper)

Labradors in Pyjamas aren't coming down the stairs

Yesterday we stayed in our pyjamas all day and only went to get the letters and the papers. Peri is much better, all the trauma of the ointment seems to have worked and although her muzzle is pink, it is pink and not raw looking. Harki is in fine form today. We had a lovely walk and they smelled a big trailer and had a dip. I made them new biscuits, oat and garlic, and they must be mighty tasty as they run to have one. Uncle GardyGardener came today and Harki was so excited she was beside herself. She did 'drop', which is the ultimate in begging. Peri did a big skid, running from the window to do a perpendicular turn into the hall she did a 180 degrees slide and hit the wall of the kitchen!!! It didn't hurt or even wind her. She is such a good girl now she is almost 3. We have played DingleDangle ball and had a play outside too.

I've not got plenty of muzzle!!!!

Today the Labradors both rolled in a dead dry marsupial a bit but were tempted away by cross words and a biscuit. There were plenty of puddles to play in and we did!! Poor Peri has a sore muzzle again. She is having her turn at being allergic, I have put ointment on her little face but she might be going to the Hospital tomorrow. At first it seemed she had skinned her nose in a big playing fit, but this morning more of the black was worn off and she was a bit unhappy. Not too unhappy to leave me a lizard in the hall though. Why would I want a lizard? It is like being on Survivor - I would be very popular if Peri caught a lot of things to eat. The lizards must be sunning themselves on the rocks as the days grow warmer, and they are not playing attention!!!! Harki has been playing with her Dingle Dangle ball, and there has been frolicking in the paddle pool too!!! We wrote the song for our Christmas card verse for Christmas 2004!! It is to 'Oh Tannenbaum' or "Oh Christmas Tree". We are very pleased, but I can't put it here till the cards have been sent out!!!

Veni Vidi Washi

I came, I saw, I washed!! The delivery men came and the Labradors were beside themselves, and believe me it was like there were 100 tails and noses. The machine came and scared the willies out of Peri!!! The big box was the scariest thing she has seen for a while. Yesterday we stayed home. Today we went for a walk this morning which is just as well as it rained torrentiallly all day yesterday and let up only enough for our walk today. We are apparently boycotting the rain this time. Peri and Harki are sleeping and that is all they are doing except for eating their food. We saw Uncle Engineer in Spotlight today.

Who let the delivery men in? Who Who Who Who?

The delivery men had not arrived by the time I had to leave but when I got home I found the labradors had obviously let them come in. There had been a lot of running I think. They managed to make them stay inside the gate and there seems to have been no unhappy occurrences. When I asked the Labradors who had come there was much running in circles and a big play . No doubt there will be more exciting times tomorrow when the washing machine is actually delivered!!!!!

NOT riding in cars with boys

Despite my best efforts the Labradors are really really sure they are going for a ride in the car. They are not. I moved the car earlier on and for the last 90 minutes they have been crying and sitting near the gate, even food has not tempted them away. The Gardygardeners came today and the Labradors had Vegetable Stock flavoured biscuits. The Gardygardeners brought them some bones and they can have one this afternoon. Nothing else exciting has happened – oh the parcel postman came last night, but that is it really so far today.

Annette Kellerman, eat your heart out.

This morning the Labradors must have known they were going for an extra walk. When we woke up at 8 am they were so excited. When we arrived someone else was walking on the other track so we went down to the dam. As soon as they know they are allowed down the road, they race off. Peri runs round the bend, down the hill and dives in and swims in happy circles. Harki paddles. But today Harki had a swim, accidental or otherwise, but she swam after a stick. It was a moment!! We should call her harki Spitz, or the Harkido, or Harkia Thomas!!!! It was an Olympic effort.
Peri swims far out to fetch sticks and comes in smiling and swallows water as she goes!!! It is raining now and it smells so fresh and nice. The Labradors are asleep.
Yesterday we saw HollyPolly and Aunty Estaire and Estaire#3 and they have a dog Toby. Toby is exuberant and fun.

Harki is so asleep her mouth is very cute. The 2 Labrador calendars have great photos this month, a puppy on one and a happy dog on the other. The second rose for ToriAngel’s rose has come out. It is the Peace Rose and Vundy the German Shepherd’s rose is next to that. It is only new this year as Vundy only went to DogHeaven in February. Tori went to DogHeaven 3 years ago almost. How time flies.

I'm relieved about yesterday

Yesterday the labradors and I didn't do anything. They played with TeddyBunny who is still alive. We ate drank and slept and lived a slow and boring life.
Today we have been for a short walk as we intend to go tomorrow as well. Harki is such a funny girl, she would rather play with the giant tennis ball than eat a rewhide bone!! Peri wants to eat the bone!!!
